Security, in depth.

Fixato tells you what is actually protecting your PC — Microsoft Defender, or the antivirus you already installed — and shows you the readings behind the answer. No bundled antivirus, no bloat, no scare tactics.

In plain language

You don't need another antivirus; you need to know whether the one you have is doing its job. Fixato reads Defender's real state, checks the places adware likes to hide, and tells you plainly what it sees — including "you're fine", when you are.

Under the hood

It reads Defender's status through Windows' own security APIs, along with the HOSTS file, browser policies and outbound connections. It can start a Defender scan and undo the proxy, DNS and HOSTS changes adware makes — it never installs a competing engine, and it never turns a Windows security setting down.

Your protection, verified

Is Defender actually protecting you?

Real-time protection, signature freshness, scan history and exclusions — checked directly, so "you're protected" is a fact, not a hope.

  • Reads Defender's true state, not a marketing badge.
  • Flags disabled protection or risky exclusions.
  • If another antivirus is running the show, it says so instead of alarming you.

What it checks

The state of your real defenses.

Read-only. Fixato inspects the protection you already have.

Real-time protection

Whether Defender's live shield is actually on — and, if another antivirus is registered, that it is the one on duty. Defender stepping aside for it is normal, not a problem.

Signature freshness

How old Defender's threat definitions are — stale signatures miss new threats. Fixato reports the age; Windows Update is what refreshes them.

Named toolget_defender_status

Scan history

When Defender last scanned, and whether anything was found.

Named toolget_defender_status

Suspicious exclusions

Folders or files someone (or malware) told Defender to ignore — a classic hiding spot.

A hijacked browser

Pop-ups, a search engine you never chose, a homepage that keeps coming back: Fixato reads the browser policies, the shortcut targets and the HOSTS file where that gets written.

What's calling out

Which program is talking to which address right now — the way a process that shouldn't be phoning home gets noticed.

What it repairs (with your yes)

Then it clears out what got in.

Your confirmation every time, and every action goes through Windows' own mechanisms — no third-party engine is ever installed, and no protection setting is ever turned down to make a symptom go away.

Run a scan

Starts a quick or full Defender scan and shows you what it finds. It changes no settings — it only asks Defender to look.

Named toolstart_defender_scan

Undo a browser hijack

Resets the proxy and connection settings adware commonly rewrites, and flushes the stale DNS behind the redirects. If you're on a company network with a legitimate proxy, Fixato warns you first.

Named toolremove_browser_hijacker

Restore the HOSTS file

Puts the HOSTS file back to Windows' default when malware has written redirections into it. The old file is backed up before anything is replaced.

Named toolreset_hosts_file

Safe by design.
